Earlier this year, we pledged to continuously improve our hiring practices, cultural norms, and diversity efforts at GoCo. We also pledged to work with experts in diversity and inclusion to assist HR professionals in leading a revolution inside of businesses.
While there is still endless work to do, we’re excited to introduce our new small business spotlights series — a monthly roundup of diverse small businesses from all different backgrounds and cultures. Each month, we’ve selected a different business theme to help bring awareness to a diverse array of businesses. Small businesses are the heart and soul of our economy and communities, and we’re committed to bringing the spotlight to them!
For our first monthly spotlight, we’ve decided to dive deeper into the Houston dessert scene. From hot cheeto croissants to keto cookies, here are our monthly business highlights!

Cupcake Kitchen is a cafe-bakery known for its artisanal cupcakes, cookies, pies and cakes. Native Houstonian and Owner Patrice Farooq built her business from the ground up, starting from a meal catering business. Visitors can indulge in banana pudding cake, cinnamon rolls and other tasty goodies at her shop. Patrice has continued to build on her dreams of opening a Seafood and Soulfood restaurant, so the spot now offers savory meals as well.
