To celebrate Small Business Week (April 28-May 4, 2024), we’ve asked GoCo employees across the country to list some of their most beloved small businesses in their city.

Today, we have Kristina Albo, Client Success Specialist at GoCo. Check out her small business recommendations in Seattle below!

1. For a Delicious Meal with a View or a Great Date Spot: Aqua Verde

Address: 1303 NE Boat St, Seattle, WA 98105

“Located off of Lake Union on Portage Bay, this is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Seattle. You can enjoy their delicious food and drinks inside or on their scenic outdoor patio. After enjoying your incredible meal, head downstairs to their Paddle Club to rent a paddleboard or kayak. It’s an ideal setting for a romantic outing or a memorable day under the sun.”

2. For a Good Bagel: Eltana

Address: 3920 Stone Way N, Seattle, WA 98103 and 1538 12th Ave Seattle, WA

“If you are craving a bagel, Eltana is the perfect spot. Their wood-fired bagels come in a variety of delicious flavors that you can pair with several different infused butters, dairy-free spreads, and cream cheeses. My favorite pairing is their everything bagel with their za’atar scallion spread.”

3. When You Want (or Need) to Get Some New Plants: Indoor Sun Shoppe

Address: 160 N Canal St, Seattle, WA 98103

“This beautiful plant nursery offers a diverse selection of plants and all the essentials to help you keep your new green companions thriving. The staff are friendly and very knowledgeable. This shop is also a great go-to for housewarming gift cards!”

4. For a Rainy Day: Little Oddfellows

Address: 1521 10th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122

“Little Oddfellows is the perfect place if you want to escape the rain and get into a new book. Grab a new book in this two-story library and enjoy some great food and coffee. It’s also a nice place to meet a friend or get some work done!”

5. When You Need to Escape to a Tropical Paradise: Hawaii General Store & HGS Travel

Address: 258 NE 45th St, Seattle, WA 98105

“This adorable Hawaiian General Store sells Hawaiian snacks, scents, clothes, glassware, jewelry, decorations... you name it! They probably have it, and you’ll want it! One of the highlights of this store is their exceptionally friendly service! Adding to the warm atmosphere, a charming golden retriever sporting a lei is always there to give visitors a cheerful welcome.”

6. For When You Need a Serotonin Boost: Twice Sold Tales

Address: 1833 Harvard Ave, Seattle, WA 98122

“If you're a cat lover, you might just find your new favorite spot at this charming used bookstore. This cozy nook is home to several adorable and friendly cats that add an extra touch of warmth and companionship to your browsing experience. You can explore a vast collection of books across various genres, while the cats playfully wander between the shelves.”

7. For When You Need a Musical Escape: Seattle Opera

Address: 363 Mercer St, Seattle, WA 98109

“Seattle Opera is a cultural gem, renowned for its exquisite productions and commitment to artistic excellence. From elaborate sets to powerful voices, a visit to the opera promises an evening filled with drama, emotion, and unforgettable music”

8. For When You Need Coffee:

Coffee and Seattle go hand in hand. There is an endless list of great coffee at your disposal. While heading to Pike Place to visit the 1st Starbucks Store is a must, here are two other beloved coffee shops in Seattle:

  • Anchorhead Coffee

    Address: 1600 7th Ave. Suite 105, Seattle

“Their staple black interior offers comfort and is a nice homage to Seattle's gloomy weather. It’s a great place to enjoy your coffee while you work or meet a friend.“

  • Mr. West Coffee

Address: 720 Olive Way | Seattle, WA 98101

“While all three locations offer a beautiful plant oasis, amazing coffee, and tasty treats, the downtown location is my personal favorite. Their outdoor patio plus their refreshing happy hour equals a great after-work escape. You can also pick up local wine, plants, and pots here.”

9. For the Perfect Rooftop View: Mbar

Address: 400 Fairview by Pembroke

“This modern Middle Eastern and Mediterranean delicacy is the perfect weekend opener. Grab your friends or lover and catch a beautiful sunset and view of the space needle on their rooftop terrace. They've got blankets, space heaters, and firepits to keep you warm and toasty outside, plus delicious alcoholic drinks to keep you feeling cozy on the inside.”
